A Springhill couple is now residing in parish lockups as the result of a lengthy investigation into illegal drug activities by Springhill narcotics officers.
Chief of Police Will Lynd said the couple, 58-year-old William Charles Hanna and 64-year-old Lorie Jester Hanna, were arrested Monday after a search warrant was enforced on their residence in the 100 block of Mattie Dr.
During a search of the residence, officers reportedly found a small bag of suspected crystal methamphetamine plus numerous small, clear plastic baggies and a scale of the type used to weigh narcotics.
Officers also reportedly discovered a 12-gauge shotgun and a loaded 22-caliber handgun. A background check confirmed William Hanna was a convicted felon.
Detectives reportedly questioned Lorie Hanna and explained that video evidence showed her in the room while her husband was selling narcotics. She reportedly admitted knowing her husband sold methamphetamines from their home.
William Hanna is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on charges of possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines), possession of a firearm by convicted felon, possession of firearm in presence of CDS and on a warrant for distribution of CDS. His bond has been set at $98,500.
Lorie Hanna has been charged with criminal conspiracy and is being held in the parish jail under a $20,000 bond.
