Girl Scout Troop 213 in Minden has 12 members ranging from grades k-5 and room for more.

Troop Leader Tiffany Jones said this Saturday her troop will be installing a community library at Victory Park in Minden and invites potential new members to come. The event will take place at noon August 22.

“The scouts put it together and painted it,” she said. “We also got donations for the books. A community library is a wonderful asset to our community. Children can take a book and also leave a book.”

The troop’s goal is to bring positivity and light to Minden.

“In the coming weeks we will be holding a receiving blanket drive for NICU awareness month to donate to Ocshner’s hospital in Shreveport and St. Francis NICU in Monroe,” she added.
