Traffic violation leads to stolen weapon arrest

Running a stop sign has run a Shreveport man into the Webster Parish prison after officers reportedly found a stolen firearm inside his vehicle.

Reginald Delone Moore, Jr., 22, is now sitting in Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is charged with illegal possession of stolen firearm, possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana) and driving under suspension. His bond is set at $1,500.

A Louisiana State Police trooper reportedly stopped Moore just after 10 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Allen Dr. and Pine St. for the stop sign violation. A background check reportedly revealed Moore had multiple recent charges of illegal carrying of weapons, plus an attempted second-degree murder charge with no disposition.

During questioning, Moore reportedly admitted a firearm was under the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The trooper also found a small bag of marijuana in Moore’s cargo pants pocket during a pat-down search.

Webster Parish deputies arrived to assist and during a search of the vehicle, a .45 caliber handgun was found. A check with Minden PD confirmed the weapon was stolen.
