Two SPD lieutenants on administrative leave over private security conflict of interest
Two Shreveport Police Department lieutenants have been placed on paid administrative leave while the department investigates whether their outside employment with a private security firm violates department policy. Lt. Mike Jones and Lt. Allison Azlin are listed as managers of Tactical Personal Security Solutions LLC, a company registered with the state in November 2025. SPD spokesperson Cpl. Chris Bordelon said the internal investigation will determine whether the private business poses a conflict of interest with their duties as police officers. There is no indication the two used city resources for their private security work. SPD said the lieutenants’ rank — unlike regular patrol officers — makes administrative leave necessary to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.
Child custody exchange leads to Tuesday night shooting in Lincoln Parish
Lincoln Parish investigators worked through the night Tuesday following a shooting in the Triple Crown subdivision northeast of Ruston.
At about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired in the area of Stable Road and Derby Drive near the entrance to the subdivision. Deputies responded and located Joe Cahee, a resident of the area, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
During the preliminary investigation, detectives determined Cahee and Salina Lynn Sampson were involved in a child custody exchange at the time of the incident. Sampson was accompanied by her brother and boyfriend. An altercation occurred during the exchange, at which time firearms were produced and multiple gunshots were fired.
Cahee was the only individual struck by gunfire. Cahee was transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center for treatment and was later airlifted to LSU Ochsner in Shreveport for additional medical care.
Ruston Police arrest rape suspect
Police have arrested a Ruston man following the investigation of a reported sexual assault of a juvenile.
Jackie Lynn Perdue, Jr., 37, was arrested Sunday as a result of the investigation. He was booked for first degree rape and crime against nature.
Perdue is the third person arrested by Ruston Police for rape within the past week. The three cases are not related to one another.
Big Love Sporting Clays Benefit Saturday
The fourth annual Big Love Sporting Clays Benefit will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Natchitoches Shooting Range, 652 Tauzin Island Road, benefiting the Child Advocacy Program of Cane River Children’s Services. Two teens killed, several injured in cameron parish head-on crash
Cameron – On August 26, 2026, shortly before 7:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 27 near Shawnee Lane. The crash claimed the lives of 19-year-old Kylar Scott of Baton Rouge and 19-year-old Jordan Smith of Ferriday.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Scott, was traveling north on LA Hwy 27. At the same time, a 2025 Blue Bird workforce transit bus was traveling south on LA Hwy 27. For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai veered left, crossed the centerline, and struck the bus head-on in the southbound lane.
Scott and Smith, a passenger in the Hyundai, were both properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries, and were pronounced deceased at the scene. A rear-seat passenger in the Hyundai, who was unrestrained, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the bus and 21 adult passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Due to ongoing medical evaluations, the extent of their injuries remains under investigation.
Acadia Parish woman arrested in connection with insurance fraud, arson investigation
ACADIA PARISH (August 25, 2026) – The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal (SFM) has arrested 57-year-old Julie Lejeune of Estherwood in connection with a March house fire investigators determined was intentionally set as part of an insurance fraud scheme.
SFM deputies arrested Lejeune on August 25, 2026, on one count each of Arson with Intent to Defraud and Insurance Fraud.
The investigation began after the Acadia Parish Fire District #5 requested assistance from the SFM Fire Investigations Unit following a house fire in the 200 block of Morris Avenue in Estherwood.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. on March 16, 2026, the Acadia Parish Fire District #5 responded to the fire.
