A speeding biker is now facing more than traffic violations after he was found with drugs in his possession following a Wednesday traffic stop by Springhill police.

Chief of Police Will Lynd said officers stopped 63-year-old Charles D. Lirette for exceeding the speed limit while operating his Harley Davidson motorcycle. 

Officers following Lirette reportedly noticed his temporary tags had expired. When pulled over and questioned, he reportedly told the officers his driver’s license had also been suspended.

Lirette was asked if he had anything on his person prior to a custody search and he reportedly admitted having a loaded needle and several unused needles in his pockets. Officers recovered the needles, and also found a clear vile of crystal substance weighing 19.23 grams and a small vile containing 10 Clonzapam pills.

Lirette, a resident of the 900 block of Percy Burns Rd., has been charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines), possession of CDS Sch. II (Clonzapam), driving under suspension and expired registration. 

He is currently being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where bond has been set at $500 for  driving under suspension. Bond has not been set on the narcotics charges.
