The Witches Ride of Minden celebrated National Dog Day this year by announcing a fitting group of grand marshals for its 2026 parade: the city’s four-legged elected officials.

Leading this year’s ride down Main Street will be Pet Mayor Scout, Chief of Pawlice Ridge and Fur Chief Raven Pearl. Joining them will be members of the Pet Council: Captain, Baby G, Milo America, Clyde and Ellie Mae.

The honorary officials, accompanied by their owners, will take their place at the front of the parade when the 2026 Witches Ride of Minden returns to downtown Minden on Oct. 24.

Organizers said the decision to recognize Minden’s “Pet Administration” carries special meaning this year. A portion of the proceeds from the 2026 Witches Ride will help complete the final fundraising goal for the new Minden Animal Shelter.

With local animals benefiting from this year’s fundraising efforts, organizers felt it was only appropriate for Minden’s elected pet officials to receive the parade’s place of honor.

Community members will have the opportunity to see the VIPs leading the witches through downtown and organizers joked that the furry officials may even remain after the parade to distribute a few official “paw-tographs.”

Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars, polish those collars and get ready to cheer as Minden’s Pet Administration leads the 2026 Witches Ride down Main Street.
