Well deer hunting season has come around again. This weekend is the big tax free weekend, which gives everyone a chance to save on their food plot seeds. We have several blends and some total 50lb bags of the none mixed.

Our best blend is the Buck Busters Premium mix. This blend contains a good mixture of seed. Peas, wheat, elbon rye, tritical, chicory, rape and clovers. It sits at the top because of the chicory, and clovers. Backwoods Big 3 has wheat, oats, and rye. Backwoods Dixie 6 is a blend of wheat, oats, clover peas and rape. The River Valley mix is wheat, oats, rye, peas and clover. The clover that my husband, Randy, likes to recommend is the Arrowleaf Clover. This clover is in the white clover family and with a good spring will last through July and August. Arrowleaf is also a perennial clover that comes back every year. This year we are selling a lot of Purple Top Turnips to plant in the food plot. Yes, this is the same turnip that you plant in your garden every spring. After a good frost the deer love the turnips and just pull them out of the ground. There is a plus, you can pick also and serve them on your table.

Remember last week when I wrote about the scorpions? I’ve got a much better one for you this week. Wednesday morning while walking through the kitchen I spotted something on the floor that was not there when I shut the lights off to go to bed. SNAKE!!!!!!!! Yes about 9 inches long. I was calling to Randy to come quick. So, My Hero saved the day and picked him up and took him outside. No Kill. I’m worrying about what in the world is coming next. I guess (Charlie) the snake was just minding his own business and trying to stay cool. If I had my first thought he would be a dead Charlie and my tile flooring would be cracked from the blow. If I see him outside, there will no pardon from me.
