Dubberly, Louisiana -A new group of students was inaugurated into the Central Elementary Flag Brigade. Mrs. Kiwinan Franklin shared with students the significance of the flag and the ways to show reverence to the flag.  Central is fortunate to have Mrs. Franklin on staff.

As a former Air Force Veteran, she took the time to share with the students key information about the flag. She reviewed the symbolism of the colors, star, and stripes, demonstrated the proper etiquette for flag handling, and taught the history of the flag.  Mrs. Franklin stated, “There are many lessons to be learned through flag handling that relate to her Air Force core values; integrity, service before self, and excellence in all we do.”

Each year, Mr. Lee chooses students who embody these traits. At Central, the students are responsible for maintaining our flag and setting an example for others. 

 Principal, Daniel Lee, advocates, “As a former history history teacher, but more importantly as a proud American, I feel it is my duty to ensure our students at Central understand that the flag is so much more than a piece of cloth.”  

This year’s Flag Brigade (pictured above) consists of Jaxson Bryan, Chase Cook, Billy Hunter, Beau Irby, Savannah Kirk, Parker McEachern, Dylan Pamituan, Jaheim Wallace, and Sage Wood.
