A Sibley man is being held in the parish prison after he was arrested Sunday for allegedly attacking his elderly mother with a plastic clothes hanger.

Sheriff Jason Parker said deputies responded to a report of an active disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of SE 2nd Ave. early Sunday morning. Deputies reportedly saw 38-year-old Nicholas A. Chambers standing in the roadway holding a piece of plastic hanger when they arrived.

Deputies reportedly entered the residence where they found Chambers’ 70-year-old mother inside suffering from a head laceration. The victim reportedly told deputies she and her son were in a verbal altercation when he grabbed the hanger and struck her in the head.

Chambers is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is charged with second degree aggravated domestic abuse. His bond has been set at $25,000.

This information has been provided by a law enforcement agency as public information. Persons named as suspects in a criminal investigation, or arrested and charged with a crime, have not been convicted of any criminal offense and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
