Responding to a reported 911 hang-up call resulted in the arrest of a Minden man for allegedly striking a female while a police officer was nearby.

Chief of Police Jared McIver said 51-year-old James Roland Trotter is charged with domestic abuse battery and resisting an officer in connection with the incident which occurred just after 7 p.m. Monday.

According to McIver, Officer Kevin Lavack was dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Drew Lane to investigate a hang-up call to the emergency line. When the officer arrived, he reportedly contacted the suspected female caller who first told him everything was fine, but then signaled him to remain at the door.

Officer Lavack reportedly waited, then entered the residence where he heard a sound consistent with someone being struck. The victim reportedly ran through the living room area, holding her face. Once outside, the victim told the officer she would pursue charges.

When the officer again entered the residence, Trotter reportedly appeared intoxicated and refused efforts to be placed in custody. He eventually was subdued, but continued to resist until he was eventually placed inside the officer’s patrol unit.

Trotter is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. His bond has been set at $10,000.
