Using a bamboo stick as a weapon has put a Webster Parish woman in the parish jail looking at a domestic abuse charge.

Sheriff Jason Parker said 33-year-old Heather Ann Gantt is charged with aggravated domestic abuse following the Sunday evening incident. She is being held under a $7,500 bond.

Parker said deputies answered a call shortly after 9:30 p.m. concerning an active disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of Calvin Liner Rd. Deputies reportedly made contact with the victim who said Gantt had struck him in the face and on his arms multiple times with a bamboo stick.

Deputies were told by witnesses Gantt had fled through a back door of the residence prior to their arrival. She reportedly was located laying on the ground behind a barn at the residence and placed in custody.

Gantt reportedly refused the opportunity to give a written statement following after hearing her Miranda rights, but while in booking she reportedly admitted striking the victim with the stick because he allegedly “called her fat.”

This information has been provided by a law enforcement agency as public information. Persons named as suspects in a criminal investigation, or arrested and charged with a crime, have not been convicted of any criminal offense and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
