A second degree murder charge has been filed against a 21-year-old Minden man for the Sunday shooting death of his uncle, according to Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker.

Parker said Luther David Hair was officially charged after investigators looked into events surrounding the shooting death of 58-year-old Daniel W. Hair at a residence in the 3400 block of Dorcheat Rd.

Deputies were called to the reported shooting around 2 p.m. Sunday and found the deceased inside the residence suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives reportedly learned Daniel Hair had come to the residence to request a ride to a store, and had become involved in an argument with the resident. Luther Hair reportedly was inside during the argument and had requested that his uncle leave.

Luther Hair reportedly retrieved a handgun from a bedroom when his uncle refused to leave after another request, and reportedly fired a single shot from the kitchen area. That shot struck Daniel Hair who reportedly was in the living room.

During interviews, detectives reportedly were told Daniel Hair was unarmed and had not made physical contact with anyone in the residence. 

Luther Hair reportedly was officially charged after results of the investigation were presented to the District Attorney’s office, Parker said.

Luther Hair is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where bond has been set at $450,000.
