22 Hands Up will bring community members together for an afternoon of food, music and fellowship during its 2026 Annual Food Fest Fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Minden Community House.
The event will be held from noon until 3:30 p.m., with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. The Minden Community House is located at 711 Gladney Street.
Tickets are available in advance for a $40 donation. No to-go plates will be offered.
Founded by Darrell and Sandra Hampton, 22 Hands Up is a Minden-based organization serving young people ages 11 to 18 throughout Webster, Claiborne and Bienville parishes. Its mission centers on preparing youth for greater financial freedom, personal wellness and future success through education and real-world experiences.
The organization’s programs focus on three primary areas: financial literacy, education and career development, and physical and mental health. Participants have opportunities to learn about saving, spending, credit and investing; visit colleges, universities and workforce-training sites; explore potential careers; and develop skills related to fitness, mental wellness and managing stress.
Past activities have included college and career tours, financial education, leadership development, mentoring opportunities and health and safety training. In March, the organization hosted a free seminar that gave area youth hands-on instruction in CPR, first aid and emergency response while introducing them to careers in health care and public safety.
Proceeds from the Food Fest will help 22 Hands Up continue providing these programs and experiences. According to the organization, donations help cover expenses such as youth transportation, refreshments, program materials, activity supplies, shirts and communication costs.
The annual fundraiser is also intended to strengthen relationships within the community by giving supporters an opportunity to share a meal and connect around a common purpose: creating more opportunities for the next generation.
The 2025 Food Fest drew a full house to the Minden Community House for a sit-down meal, music and fellowship. The Hamptons hope the 2026 event will once again demonstrate what can be accomplished when the community comes together in support of its young people.
