An apparent argument that began when a brother and sister attempted to leave their job became a physical confrontation, and a 47-year-old Minden man is in the parish prison as a result.

Chief of Police Jared McIver said Benjamin Lee Ware is charged with domestic abuse battery with serious bodily injury after he allegedly attacked his son for wanting to quit work at the restaurant.

McIver said officers were dispatched to Minden Medical Center to investigate an incident that occurred at the Shreveport Rd. business around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. At the hospital, officers reportedly learned the victim was being treated for injuries resulting from the incident.

Officers reportedly were told the victim and his sister wanted to quit working at the business and when the sister tried to leave, Ware allegedly attempted to stop her. The victim reportedly intervened and was struck by Ware in the face with a closed fist.

During a resulting altercation, the victim was reportedly thrown to the ground and received injuries to his shoulder, hands, wrist and elbow. Officers reportedly reviewed surveillance footage which confirmed the altercation and injuries.

Ware reportedly is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under a $25,000 bond.
