Armed carjacking suspect captured following pursuit through Mansfield
MANSFIELD, La. — A man accused of committing an armed carjacking and leading law enforcement officers on a pursuit through Mansfield and surrounding areas was taken into custody Sunday afternoon following a crash, according to the Mansfield Police Department. Police identified the suspect as Torreal Woods Jr.
Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests former Haughton High School band director in sex offense investigation
Detectives with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Bossier City man during an ongoing investigation into allegations of sex offenses involving a former Haughton High School student. Kevin Williams, 56, who was employed as the band director at Haughton High School, was arrested following an investigation that began after an adult victim came forward with information regarding alleged sexual abuse that occurred over a period of years while the victim was of high school age and involved in the Haughton High School band program.
Claiborne Parish Police Jury to hold Athens meeting on sales tax propositions
ATHENS, La. — The Claiborne Parish Police Jury will hold a community meeting in Athens on Monday, Sept. 28, to discuss sales tax propositions that will appear before voters in November and their connection to residential trash collection and other services in rural areas of the parish. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Athens Town Hall on Highway 9.
Two suspects captured after stolen vehicle pursuit reaches speeds over 125 MPH in Winn Parish
Two suspects were in custody Tuesday morning following an overnight manhunt that began after a stolen vehicle led Winn Parish deputies on a high-speed pursuit before crashing near the Winn Correctional Center. According to the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted the stolen vehicle Monday evening on Gum Springs Road, just south of Calvin, and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit that crossed U.S. Highway 84. Authorities said speeds during the pursuit exceeded 125 mph before the vehicle crashed south of the Winn Correctional Center.
