Escaped Caddo Correctional Center inmate Tre’veon Jackson, 24, was captured Tuesday night in Marshall, Texas by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office. 

U.S. Marshal Brian Barber said Jackson’s capture was a cooperative operation between the Western District of Louisiana and Eastern District of Texas.

Jackson is currently being held in the Harrison County Jail on federal charges. Jackson escaped from a Caddo Parish deputy’s custody around 10:15 p.m. Sept. 14 outside Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport on Kings Highway while being transported back to the Caddo Correctional Center. Following his escape, he carjacked a vehicle at the Marriott hotel at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City and led police on a chase before abandoning the vehicle near Highway 80 and Interstate 220. He remained at large for eight days. Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. thanked local, state, and federal law enforcement for their collaboration in locating and apprehending Jackson.

Caddo Sheriff Takes Responsibility, Announces Security Reforms Following Escape

Hours before Jackson’s capture was announced Tuesday night, Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. held a media briefing at the Caddo Correctional Center to address the security failures that enabled Jackson’s escape. Whitehorn took full responsibility. A second deputy should have been assigned to transport Jackson, the sheriff said. Whitehorn announced a series of protocol reforms, including mandatory dual-deputy transport for all inmates classified as high-risk. The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office noted that Jackson — a convicted armed robber who also faces two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder — should have been transported under heightened security procedures given his criminal history.
