The federal government will never email someone a warrant, and neither will the Shreveport Police Department. Warrants are not delivered through emails resembling coupons, shipping confirmations or extended car warranty offers.
Haughton family in Washington fighting to free son held in Chinese prison

The family of Nelson Wells Jr. of Haughton traveled to Washington, D.C. on Monday to continue their more than decade-long fight to secure their son’s release from a Chinese prison. Wells Jr. has been jailed in China for years and has developed serious medical issues, according to his family. His parents — Cynthia Wells and Nelson Wells Sr. — have been appealing to U.S. officials and the Trump administration for intervention on humanitarian grounds. The family is asking for prayers and public support as they continue their advocacy.
Parish LIHEAP funds exhausted

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds for Natchitoches Parish were exhausted as of Sept. 15, and the program is temporarily unavailable, the Nsatchitoches Parish Office of Community Services said. Residents can still apply through the office’s online portal for consideration when funding is restored. The office also runs the Community Services Block Grant, which covers education, employment, housing, food and emergency assistance, along with USDA commodities, the Senior Companion Program and Food for Seniors, which distributes monthly food boxes to residents 60 and older on the fourth Thursday of each month. The office is at 200 Church St., Room 210, open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with a noon to 1 p.m. lunch break. The phone number is 318-357-2220.
