Rusty ran the streets of Plain Dealing for years. A huge effort was made to catch him, but he wasn’t interested… until one day he turned up with a wound on his face/neck, which the vet believed was a gunshot. He felt so poorly that he let volunteers apprehend him – FINALLY! 

He is perfectly healthy and happy. He loves to “smile” when he greets you and will make a wonderful pet. 

Rusty is heartworm negative, neutered, and up-to-date on all vaccines & flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. This healthy & social fella is ready for a home of his own!

To schedule a meet-and-greet, you must fill out an application first. 

We do not cat test at our shelter. All dogs are dog-friendly unless otherwise noted. Please only commit to adoption if you are willing to give the dog time to adjust to a home life – some dogs have been in our shelter for over a year.
