Minden Police stopped a speeder from South Carolina on Interstate 20 September 27 and reportedly discovered drugs and weapons.

James Robert Singletary, 21, of Kingstree, South Carolina, was arrested for possession of schedule 1 with intent to distribute, possession of schedule 2, two counts of illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of controlled dangerous substances and speeding.

Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said Officer Morgan Jester clocked the driver of the vehicle, bearing Florida tags, was traveling 86 in a 70-mile-per-hour zone eastbound around the 47 mile marker.

“When he approached the vehicle, the officer smelled a very strong odor of marijuana coming from inside,” McIver said. “The driver produced his driver’s license and a rental agreement for the vehicle.”

Singletary reportedly complied with all the officer’s requests and admitted to having the drugs and firearms. He also advised J’quan Abram, the passenger may have a firearm, which was discovered in the backseat of the vehicle.

Officers Kendale Booker reportedly searched the vehicle and discovered the following:

8 white pills identified as Adderall – bond $2,500
498 grams of suspected marijuana and CDS scheduled 1 marijuana in a packaged labeled Prikly Pear Smoothie – bond $25,000
Black Springfield Armory 9mm handgun – bond $10,000
AR rifle located in the trunk – no bond listed
Tan handgun on the floorboard backseat – bond $10,000
$3190 in cash – no bond listed.
