11-year-old calls 911 to help mother, siblings

An 11-year-old child called 911 and may have saved his mother and siblings because of his actions.

Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker said the young man witnessed DeMarcus Heard, 38, of the 400 block of Meadow Drive, Homer striking his mother with a belt.

“He tried to tackle the man and was pushed to the ground, causing a scrape on his leg,” Parker said. “Two other children, ages 5 and 6, were inside the residence and witnessed it as well.”

The victim reportedly told deputies the subject punched her several times, pushed her into a vehicle and onto the ground where he struck her multiple times.

Heard was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic abuse battery with child endangerment (times 3), simple battery and on an active DCFS warrant from Claiborne Parish. No bond was set.
