Dorm disturbance call leads to marijuana distribution arrest

A Grambling State University police response to a dormitory disturbance ended with a student facing a marijuana distribution charge early Thursday, according to an arrest affidavit. Dwayne Ross Jr., 19, of Los Angeles, was arrested by Grambling State police at 1 a.m. Sept. 24 at Holland Hall. After being read his Miranda rights, Ross admitted smoking marijuana in the room before officers arrived. Under his bed, officers found a black box with a strong odor of marijuana coming from it. Inside were several silicone bags of suspected marijuana and cash in $20, $10, $5 and $1 bills. Clear Ziploc bags were also found in the room.

Ross claimed the marijuana was his but said it was for personal use. Based on the suspected marijuana being separated into individual bags of about 3.5 grams each, along with the Ziploc bags and the mix of cash, the officer believed Ross was involved in distribution.
