The City of Minden and Minden Police Department are inviting residents to support survivors and raise awareness of domestic violence during a proclamation signing and community forum Thursday, October 8.
The event begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Minden Police Department parking lot at 520 Broadway Street. Held in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, the gathering will emphasize prevention, support and the community’s role in helping break the cycle of abuse.
An official proclamation signing and forum are planned, and attendees can purchase lunch from local food trucks while showing their support.
The event’s flyer carries the message “It’s Not Okay,” alongside a purple awareness ribbon, reinforcing the call to recognize domestic violence and stand with those affected.
Awareness T-shirts are also available for purchase through the QR code on the flyer. According to the flyer, all proceeds from T-shirt sales benefit the local Minden St. Jude fundraiser.
The event is hosted by the City of Minden Police Department and co-hosted by the Minden Police Association, a nonprofit organization, with support from community partners and sponsors.
