Narcotics charges have been filed against a Minden man after he allegedly attempted to discard his stash prior to a traffic stop Tuesday.
Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said 50-year-old Romulius D. Coliston is looking at charges of flight from an officer, resisting an officer, possession of CDS Sch.II (methamphetamines) and improper lane usage. He reportedly is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. No bond has been set.
McIver said MPD Office Cody James attempted to stop Coliston’s vehicle for a traffic infraction at the intersection of High and West streets, but the vehicle turned into Brooks Alley. At the time of the turn, the officer reportedly noticed the driver apparently shaking items outside the driver’s window.
Coliston’s vehicle eventually came to a halt on Brooks Alley and he was taken into custody when he attempted to exit the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle the officer reportedly found a white crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamines located on the drivers’ set.
