Lumberjack festival returns to original location

Story and Photos by Jerry Strahan –

People in the Springhill community and surrounding areas seemed happy to have 42nd Annual Lumberjack Festival in its original location at Springhill City Park

The weather couldn’t have been any better. The festival was loaded with booths ranging from food, arts and crafts, face painting, singing and the band Delta.

A car show with some very nice and very expensive rides was also on tap.

Zach Tipton from Benton took home a rifle, and Stanley B. Sanders of Minden won 1st place at the Lumberjack Car, Truck & Tractor Show in the Tractor Division.

A mechanical bull drew a lot of children. It seemed the girls were braver than the boys.

Springhill Fire Department set up some fun by providing a sledge hammers  for people, including J.B. Law to destroy the cars.

To close out the festival, there was Dragging Main, something done by the kids a long time ago – driving one end of Main Street to the other end for hours.
