Castor pair nabbed on multiple charges

By Pat Culverhouse –

A minor traffic stop early Thursday morning became a major headache for a Castor couple after their vehicle was pulled over by a Webster Parish deputy.

Sheriff Jason Parker said Deputy Brian Miller stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 371 just after 1 a.m. Thursday driven by 30-year-old Ethan Michal Durr. Miller reportedly had requested a vehicle check which showed the Arkansas-tagged vehicle had no valid insurance.

Miller reportedly also discovered Durr was driving under a suspended license. During questioning, the deputy reportedly became suspicious of the actions of the passenger, 33-year-old Brittany Lynne Motley.

Durr reportedly denied the deputy permission to search the vehicle and Minden PD Lt. Shawn Griffith and his K9 partner Brahms were dispatched to the scene. During his open-air sniff, Brahms reportedly gave a positive alert to potential illegal substance on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

A search reportedly uncovered multiple pills not in a prescribed bottle inside a small purse on the passenger side floorboard where Motley reportedly had been seated.

Deputies also found a semi-automatic 9MM handgun on the floorboard between the driver’s seat and door and several glass smoking devices on the back seat. Durr reportedly admitted he had been using the devices to smoke methamphetamines.

Two small plastic baggies containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamines reportedly were found in a bag located in the center console of the vehicle. Durr reportedly told deputies he owned the narcotics and paraphernalia.

Parker said Durr is charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS, no proof of insurance and driving under suspension.

Durr is being held without bond at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

Motley was booked into the Webster Parish jail where she is charged with possession of a Legend drug. No bond has been set.
