Minden continues to find meaningful ways to bring people together and an upcoming guitar recital at St. John’s Episcopal Church promises to be another special afternoon for residents to enjoy.
Dr. Cain Budds will present a recital at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 17, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, in Minden. The event is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow the performance.
Dr. Budds serves as the Gladys Lawson Rogers Endowed Professor of Guitar at Louisiana Tech University. His program will feature works by Bach, Brouwer, Barrios, Tedesco and Karmon.
“This is a free event and the community is encouraged and welcome to come enjoy the wonderful artistry of Dr. Budds in the beautiful and acoustically vibrant church of St. John’s,” said Nathan Trahan, Director of Music and Organist at St. John’s.
Lucy Hines said the church is fortunate to have Trahan. In addition to his work at St. John’s, he also serves as Director of Choral Activities and Vocal Music Education at Louisiana Tech University.
“We are blessed to have Nathan as our Music Director and Organist,” Hines said. “He is very talented and he has brought many wonderful concerts and recitals, like this one, to our church for everyone to enjoy.”
With its beautiful historic spaces, Minden has increasingly been described as feeling like a Hallmark movie.
Events such as this recital add to that small-town charm, offering residents an opportunity to slow down, enjoy an afternoon of beautiful music and experience the cultural offerings available right here in their own community.
Everyone is invited to attend the free recital Saturday, October 17, at 4 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1107 Broadway Street in Minden. A reception will follow the performance.
