Multiple charges have been filed against a Heflin woman who allegedly became belligerent during a traffic stop conducted Saturday night by a Louisiana State Police trooper.
Shawna Lynn Ivey reportedly was stopped just after 11 p.m. after a check by a state trooper reportedly showed her vehicle’s license plate and been cancelled. The trooper reportedly also learned Ivey was the subject of an active arrest warrant through the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.
After she was pulled over, Ivey reportedly began to scream and curse the trooper, demanding to know the reason for the traffic stop. During her outburst, Ivey reportedly told the trooper she was the subject of an outstanding warrant.
During attempts to place her into custody, Ivey reportedly attempted to push the trooper away, slammed her head into the rear windshield of her vehicle and attempted to fall to the ground.
A subsequent inventory of Ivey’s vehicle reportedly uncovered a small, partially smoked rolled marijuana cigarette on the floorboard of the driver’s side and approximately 10 unused hypodermic needles on the passenger seat.
Ivey was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where a search of the trooper’s patrol unit reportedly uncovered a clear plastic baggie and two rolled up paper towels behind the seat where she had been placed in custody.
A review of the trooper’s in-car camera reportedly showed Ivey placed the items in her mouth, chewed and attempted to conceal the items behind the seat.
Ivey has been charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines), possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer, driving under suspension, self mutilation of a prisoner and on a warrant from Webster Parish SO. Her bond has been set at $20,002.
She reportedly is currently on unsupervised probation for multiple felony counts of monetary instrument abuse in Webster Parish.
