Approximately 2,000 children took part in Webster Parish Libraries’ “Scene It!” Trunk-or-Treat Tuesday evening, with lines stretching outside the Minden Branch as families gathered for a night of movie magic.
The Oct. 20 celebration brought cinematic scenes to life through decorated trunks and a movie-inspired Attraction House, continuing a community tradition that grows each year.
Behind the evening’s attractions were weeks of hands-on preparation. Library staff gathered at the Minden Branch to paint, craft and create props, transforming their work into an immersive experience for children and families.
This year’s “Scene It!” theme drew inspiration from movie classics, family favorites and adventures. Local businesses and organizations were invited to recreate movie scenes at their trunks, combining treats with creative displays.
Held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the event followed the Webster Parish Fair Parade, giving families another opportunity to enjoy community festivities in Minden.
Webster Parish Libraries launched its annual Trunk-or-Treat events in 2021 to offer a safe, family-friendly Halloween activity and strengthen connections between residents, businesses and community organizations. The celebrations have continued to grow in popularity in both the northern and southern parts of the parish.
The movie magic continues at the Springhill Branch on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. A rain date is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30.
