When to spray for webworms

I visited with a customer this week about webworms in her pecan tree.  After telling her to wait until the spring to spray, I decided to further my knowledge.  Spinosad made by Fertilome seems to be a good answer.  Spinosad can be used right now and also the spring.  It is to control borers, thrips, caterpillers, armyworms, bagworms, and many other insects.  Spinosad is listed as an organic insecticide.

The dilution rate is 4 tablespoons per gallon of water.  You apply when pests are present.  Thoroughly spray all plant parts to wetting, including undersides of leaves.  Fertilome makes Spinosad in concentrate and ready-to-use formulations.  I love the RTU products because they are so easy to use.  Just hook up a water hose and go to spraying.

Back to the 4-H article earlier this week.  My grands and the rest of the 4-Hers had a great show Wednesday night.  Hopefully next year and the years to come, we can build up our numbers of participants.

Something else that I would like to know.  Would our readers suggest some products they are looking for and send to me? We are always looking for different ways to expand our lines and become the go-to place for supplies in Minden.

As always please read the label.
