The Apaches traveled to Grambling, LA to take on the Lincoln Prep Panthers, and once the offense found its rhythm, they never looked back.
Lincoln Prep struck first, taking an 8-0 lead, but Luscious Louie Collins and company quickly answered. Collins connected with The Beast Carson Whitehead before following his offensive line into the end zone with a bruising run. From there, the offense was rolling. Collins found Darron-Hollywood-Hollingsworth with a 57-yard radar guided missile, then punched in another touchdown to tie things at 14.
The ground game was just as impressive. The Beast Whitehead and Rowdy Ryan Reagan consistently moved the chains, while the offensive line opened holes big enough to drive the team bus through. Reagan eventually found the end zone untouched behind the heavy package. Collins then connected with CP-10, Carson Powell for another touchdown before Kryptonite-Kleaton Davis added the two-point conversion. The Apaches headed to halftime with a 29-20 advantage.
The second half was more of the same. Reagan continued running downhill, Collins kept delivering precision strikes, and the offensive line sold tickets to an old school fundraiser at McDonald’s as they kept handing out stacks of pancake breakfasts. Collins added another rushing touchdown before finding CP-10 Carson Powell again on a beautiful throw. Davis-Day Day- Powell got involved with a 35-yard reception and later hauled in a touchdown of his own. Collins finished the night with four rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns. That’s what you call a quarterback having a pretty good evening at the office! So much so, assistant coach and LSU Legend, Charles Scott gave him props on the field during the game.
The defense helped set the table, with Aiden- The Hammer-Nehls getting early tackles for loss, Colt, The Man on Fire, Jellum forced the quarterback out of bounds on a big defensive stop, and Hollywood Hollingsworth coming up with an interception. Bad-Bruce Bonnette brought the QB down for a sack as well. The Apaches eventually stretched the lead to 50-26 before Lincoln Prep added a late score.
The Numbers Tell the Story:
- Louie Collins: 11/14 passing, 144 yards, 2 passing TDs, 44 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs.
- Ryan Reagan: 80 rushing yards and a touchdown.
- Davis Powell: 72 rushing yards and 59 receiving yards with a touchdown.
- Darron Hollingsworth: 51 receiving yards.
- Carson Powell (CP-10): 2 catches, 26 yards and a touchdown.
- Apaches rushing attack: 259 yards and 5 Touchdowns
The offensive line deserves a special shoutout for its dominant performance. They were our on air Hol-Month Sales and Rental “Players of the Game”. When your quarterback has time to throw, your running backs have daylight, and your offense is moving the chains like a conveyor belt, somebody up front is doing something right! Many of the running backs never saw contact until 5-7yards down the field. While in only his second start, Luscious Louie Collins looked like a veteran, accounting for SIX touchdowns, but by way of the incredible offensive line play!
The Apaches didn’t just win this one. They showed what happens when all 11 guys are on the same page. The offense was smooth, balanced, explosive, and downright fun to watch.
Offensive line MVPs: Tristan Grigsby, Nolan Still, Frank Bridwell, Bruce Bonnette, Weston Duck, Aiden Nehls. All 6 played both sides of the ball most of the night! Those boys earned their stacks of pancakes!
Join us next week for another electric night of Apache football as we host the Arcadia Hornets for the regular season finale at Apache Stadium. Let’s pack the stands for a 7pm kick and cheer on our young men to another victory! With any luck, your Apaches MAY host the first round playoff game! We say it because we mean every word…..
