A Minden man is currently behind bars after he allegedly struck his female companion when an argument escalated into a physical altercation.

Chief of Police Jared McIver said 30-year-old Javeaun K. Lewis was arrested just before 5 a.m. Wednesday and charged with domestic abuse with child endangerment. He is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. No bond has been set.

McIver said officers were enroute to a residence in the 800 block of Louisiana Ave. early Wednesday morning in response to a domestic disturbance when they were flagged down by the driver of a vehicle. Officers reportedly saw the female driver had blood on her upper and lower lips.

According to the female, Lewis was inside the residence along with the couple’s two small children. She also told officers Lewis had firearms inside the residence.

When police arrived at the address, dispatchers relayed information that Lewis had called 911 claiming there was no emergency.

During questioning, Lewis reportedly told officers he had caught his girlfriend cheating and an argument ensued. He reportedly claimed he had only pushed her away when she tried to have sex with him.

According to the victim, Lewis had hit her in the face with both an open hand and closed fist. Officers also learned the couple’s three-year-old twins were sleeping in the room next to the master bedroom.
