Attempted couch retrieval lands two in BDCC

Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Minden residents Saturday for breaking into a south Webster Parish residence.

Richard Allen Shirey, 42, of Burrell Lane is charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, simple criminal damage and disturbing the peace by intoxication.

Cindy Burham, 40, of Burrell Lane is charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

Sheriff Jason Parker said Deputy Josh McCormick and Lt. Eric Roby were dispatched Saturday evening to a residence in Doyline in reference to a disturbance.

“When they arrived they made contact with the complainant who said Shirey and Burham came to his home without permission to get a couch that Shirey’s ex-wife told him to get for her,” Parker said. “The ex-wife apparently once lived in the house, but has not lived there nor paid rent in several months.”

The complainant reportedly said he heard a knock on the door and when he began to open it, Shirey and Burham barged into the residence.

“The complainant said Shirey was obviously intoxicated,” the sheriff said. “He was threatening the complainant while flipping over couches and throwing items around the residence.

“Shirey then began taking the sectional couch outside and, while doing so, put several holes in the walls with the feet of the couch,” Parker continued.

Shirey and Burham were arrested and booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
