JLFP feeds families

Thanksgiving distribution at Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry went well with volunteers coming from as far away as Magnolia.

“We distributed on November 20, and we had all hands on deck to serve everyone,” said food pantry Executive Director Jessica Lewis. “We actually ended up with more than enough food so even clients that didn’t get their Thanksgiving ticket still got a holiday meal.”

Lewis said the pantry is in the early stages of prepping to do it all over again December 18.

“We have a full calendar of local groups and businesses coming in to pack over the next two weeks,” she said. “Clients that came to the Thanksgiving distribution received their tickets for their Christmas meals. Like last month, if we have leftovers we will pass those out at the end to anyone that may have missed it.”

Feed a Family fundraiser has 145 families left to be sponsored before December 15.

“Our community, as always, has been super generous and has definitely shown the love that Minden is so well known for,” Lewis said.

“While we do take applications on distribution day, we ask that anyone in need try their very best to get signed up beforehand,” she continued. “It just makes everything go so much smoother on pickup day.”

To sign up, ID for all adults, social security numbers and dates of birth for all members of the house, and their income amounts are needed. They must be a resident of Webster Parish.

Anyone wishing to donate to the holiday meals can either do so by PayPal (joeleblancfoodbank@yahoo.com) or Venmo @Joe-LeBlanc-22 or mailing a check to 814 Constable street, Minden, La 71055.
