A fight at a local apartment complex led to injuries and an arrest by Minden Police.

Roycedric Jerom Edwards, 41, of the 100 block of Rose Hill Lane, is charged with aggravated second degree battery.

Chief Steve Cropper said last Wednesday afternoon, Lt. Chris Hammontree was dispatched Rose Hill Estates Apartments on Rose Hill Lane and Germantown Road in reference to a fight.

“When Lt. Hammontree arrived, he found a female victim on the ground and a male victim bleeding profusely from his right eye and ear,” Cropper said. “Victims told the officer that Edwards had attacked and then left the apartment. At that point, Edwards came out of another apartment and told them one of the victims lowered his head and charged him.”

Cropper said the female victim had asked Edwards to leave her apartment because Edwards had been drinking. The other victim reportedly was bringing a plate of food to the apartment when Edwards allegedly attacked.

“The plate of food was all over the porch area,” said the chief. “Officers found two knives on the ground in the area of the fight, although the two fighting males denied having a knife. The female victim said she had seen Edwards with a knife earlier.”

Both victims were transported to Minden Medical Center. The male victim’s injuries reportedly required stitches. He signed charges against Edwards, who was booked and transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

Off. Jason Smith and Lt. Spencer Tippen assisted with the arrest.
