The Minden City Council will meet in special session Thursday to discuss a new hire for the police department and a cooperative endeavor agreement.

Police Chief Steve Cropper is asking the council to consider Benjamin Sparks as a new officer. Sparks reportedly scored a 95 percent on his Civil Service exam.

The second item would allow the City of Minden to sell three electric transformers to the Town of Welsh.

The special meeting will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, January 13 in Council Chambers at Minden City Hall. The public is invited to attend.
