A Texas woman was arrested by Minden Police Sunday after wandering a local truck stop for more than two hours.
Erica Angelica Marquez, 37, of the 400 block of NW 19th St., Grand Prairie, Texas, is charged with possession of Methamphetamine, Xanax, Clonazepam and drug paraphernalia.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said Lt. Chris Hammontree, K9 Officer Tigo and OFC. Miller responded to a truck stop on Hwy. 531 at I-20.
“Staff reported Marquez had been walking around the store for two hours and had not purchased anything,” Cropper said. “Officers made contact with Marquez, and she exhibited signs of drug usage.”
Lt. Hammontree reportedly located Marquez’s vehicle in the parking lot and utilized Tigo to perform an open air sniff of the vehicle.
“K9 Tigo alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle,” said the chief. “During a search of the vehicle, Lt. Hammontree located two used needles, one Clonazepam pill, three Xanax pills, one shard of Methamphetamine, which is less than a gram, and an unknown capsule with white powder inside.”
Marquez reportedly admitted knowledge of the Xanax but claimed no knowledge of the other items, however, officers observed alleged track marks on her left arm. She was taken into custody and her vehicle towed.
