Sunday, May 29 at 7 p.m. (CDT) is the airing of the long-awaited, much-anticipated Minden episode of Hometown Kickstart on HGTV.
If you are having a watch party, we at the Webster Parish Journal want to know about it. Take a picture of your group, crowd or family as you gather around the television … just like the good ol’ days.
Then email your picture, as well as your feelings about the show, to wpjnewsla@gmail.com by noon Monday, May 30. We may use it in a story.
Sara McDaniel, who was instrumental in HGTV’s decision to come to Minden, is celebrating the episode with a virtual watch party.
“I’ll be interacting live in this event during the episode,” McDaniel reported on Facebook. “We are soooo excited to show off the friendliest city in the south!”
Minden was one of six small towns chosen by HGTV. Geaux Fresh, a residence on Elm Street and Miller Quarters were projects taken on by producers of the show. However, some smaller businesses and parks received mini-makeovers because their stories were special.
Minden is featured in the final episode of Hometown Kickstart. City committees and business owners have been meeting to plan for the tourists expected to visit after the show airs.
There will be a party from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at the Miller Quarters park behind Minden City Hall. There will be live entertainment by B-Cam and the Zydeco Young Bucks, free bounce houses for kids and chamber plates provided by Visit Webster Parish. The public is invited to attend.
