A south Webster Parish man was arrested Friday for stealing copper.
Dennis DeWayne Sneed Jr., 37, of William Brown Road, Sibley, is charged with stealing around 4,500 linear feet of wire, valued at $22,500.
According to Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker, Sneed made three trips to Diversified Energy’s storage yard over two weeks’ time. Investigators Lt. Tommy Kemp Jr., Maj. Phillip Krouse and Capt. Bobby Igo III took over the case.
“We got a game camera photo of him in the facilities, and one of our deputies recognized him,” Parker said. “When our investigators went to Sneed’s home, they found him burning and melting the rubber off the wire.”
The sheriff said Sneed’s tattoos match the ones caught on camera.
“I’m proud of my investigators,” Parker said. “They did a good job.”
