Going the wrong way on a one-way street was bad luck for a Claiborne Parish man.
Lemario Harris, 33, of the 1000 block of Memphis St., Homer, was arrested by Minden Police and charged with possession of cocaine, possession in the presence of juveniles, possession in a drug free one, driving under suspension and traveling the wrong way on a one way street.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said around 8 p.m. Friday night, Lt. Joel Kendrick and officers Brian Dison and Jared McIver initiated a traffic stop when Harris was seen northbound on Richardson Street, which is southbound only.
“Off. Dison asked Harris to step from the vehicle, and as he did, a small plastic baggie fell to the ground,” Cropper said. “Harris stepped on it, but officers collected it.”
The chief said a field test confirmed the substance was cocaine.
“In the vehicle with Harris were three children, two ages 8 and one age 5,” Cropper said. “He was in an area marked drug free, due to its proximity to school grounds.”
