Police jury honors Minden Dixie Angels X-Play All-Stars

The Minden Dixie Angels X-Play All-Stars/ Dixie World Series Champions were recognized at last Tuesday’s (October 4) Webster Parish Police Jury meeting. 

“You all did a good job girls. You don’t even know what you did yet, but when you get to about 30 you will talk about it all the time,” said WPPJ President Jim Bonsall.  

Coach Marcus Harmon agreed, “I still don’t think the girls fully understand what they accomplished but one day they will.” 

Juror for District 11 Steve Ramsey read the proclamation before distributing one to each player present. The proclamation reads: 

WHEREAS, The Minden Dixie Angels X-Play All-Stars of Minden, Webster Parish, Louisiana have won the DIXIE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP for 2022; and 

WHEREAS, the feat was accomplished with an overall record of 12 wins and 0 loss for the 2022 softball season; as undefeated district champs, undefeated state champs, and undefeated World Series champs, and 

WHEREAS, the Minden Dixie Angels X-Play All-Stars have proven to be a positive influence and exemplary role model of youth softball and sportsmanship; and  

WHEREAS, Coaches Chase Huddleston (Head Coach), Marcus Harmon, and April Pamintuan have led the Minden Dixie Angels X-Play All-Stars not only to a Dixie World Series Championship for 2022, but they have led this group of young ladies on a path of excellence in life. 

NOW THEREFORE, The Webster Parish Police Jury will today recognize the Minden Dixie Angels X-Play All-Stars Softball Team to increase public awareness and promote efforts to encourage the citizens of Webster Parish to honor the spirit of this team and to praise the All-Stars, coaches, and the City of Minden Dixie softball for this accomplishment. 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED ON THIS 4th day of October 2022 on a motion to Police Juror Steve Lemmons, duly seconded by Police Juror Jim Bonsall, the Proclamation is ratified.  

Coach Marcus Harmon became emotional and expressed his appreciation to the jury for this honor. 

“As a coach, I am extremely proud the Police Jury chose to recognize the girls and their huge achievement of winning the World Series. These girls and their families really represented Minden and the State of Louisiana very well on such a big stage,” said Harmon. “As a parent, I am really glad the Police Jury highlighted the important life lessons these girls are learning through team sports and are also demonstrating to our local community.”
