The pay scale for a new police officer was approved by the Board of Aldermen for the Village of Dixie Inn when they met in a special session on October 26.
According to Mayor Donna Hoffoss, the Village is looking to hire another police officer.
“We decided to start him out at $14.50 an hour,” Hoffoss said. “When he completes the police academy, he can be given a raise.”
The Board also adopted a resolution which would give former city clerk Dana James half of her accumulated sick pay as part of her final pay from the Village.
“We had a policy to give employees half of their sick leave when they leave, but they had to be here for at least 10 years,” Hoffoss said. Since James had not been employed for 10 years, the Board had to adopt a resolution to approve the sick pay for her.
The Board of Aldermen will meet in regular session at 5 p.m. November 8.
