Man dies after Saturday shooting

By Bonnie Culverhouse

A shooting Saturday night has resulted in the death of a man staying one of Minden’s local motels.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said his officers were dispatched to the Shreveport Road location around 9:30 p.m.

“The victim – who is around 32 or 33 years old – had been shot in the head standing in the door of his motel room,” Cropper said.

The male was transported to Minden Medical Center and then transferred to Ocshner’s LSU in Shreveport where he died from his injury early Sunday afternoon.

“We have some leads,” said the chief. “There was evidence at the scene – some .22 caliber casings.”

Cropper said it’s possible the victim knew his shooter. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
