The Seeds Women’s Center of Minden will be hosting their annual ‘Birdies for Babies’ golf tournament this Saturday, May 13, at the Pine Hills Golf Course and Country Club. The tournament will be a 4-Man Scramble.
This is one of the biggest fundraising events put on by this non-profit organization each year.
“Our goal to reach for this tournament is $25,000,” said Executive Director of the Seeds Women’s Center Amber Bradford.
Another fundraising event that brings in a lot of money is their Annual Banquet which will take place in October at the Minden Civic Center.
The funds raised from both events are vital to the continuation of this organization. It will be used to cover rent, utilities, supplies for the center, outreach and to run their ultrasound machine.
“Seeds is open because of donations received from local businesses, churches and individuals in our community,” said Bradford. “Our center is a huge asset in our community and without support and donations it would not be able to offer assistance for families.”
Seeds Women’s Center currently has 65 families enrolled in their online parenting classes and seen over 100 women and families for free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds already this year. They also recently began an in-person fatherhood class.
So far 13 teams have registered to participate in the ‘Birdies for Babies’ golf tournament, but they are looking for 5 more teams to sign up.
Bradford said, “Our goal is to have 18 teams play in all.”
Registration has been extended and you can sign up by calling 318-639-0907 or stop by the center located at 402 Broadway Street in Minden. You can also email Amber at a.bradford@nwlpcc.org to reserve your spot and golf cart.
Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and tee time at 8 a.m. They will be accepting cash, credit card and checks the morning of the event.
