Help keep UCAP in top shape

United Christian Assistance Program in Minden, always welcomes donations – clothes, food, money. All are needed, and all are appreciated.

However, sometimes when items are brought after hours, things get a little messy.

“We were closed recently and someone came along and went through donations left outside,” said UCAP Director Charlotte Jones. “We have cameras, so luckily we can see who’s doing it.”

And Jones said last week the cameras came in handy.

“We saw who did most of the scattering,” she said. “He’s a regular. He goes through trash almost every night but doesn’t usually make such mess.”

Jones said she hopes to send a message to persons who drop off trash at UCAP.

“Please don’t bring us your trash,” she said. “And these things were piled up by the trash can, so trash and donations were scattered.”

Jones said the best thing to do is bring donation items during UCAP hours, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at 204 Miller Street, Minden.
