Things are going to be a little different for this year’s Second Annual Junior Service League’s (JSL) Girls Night Out Event (GNO). Instead of just one event, it will be broken into two events for the day – brunch that morning and the official GNO festivities for that evening.
The GNO Event sold out last year, reaching maximum capacity with a lengthy waitlist, so the JSL decided to introduce the Brunch event year.
“While maintaining a reduced occupancy to create a more comfortable environment, we wanted to ensure that no one missed out on this highly anticipated event,” said GNO Chairwoman Kayla Rodriguiez.
With last year’s GNO, most have come to expect the high energy atmosphere, this Brunch will offer a more relaxed setting.
“Our vision for the Brunch event goes beyond just providing additional shopping time for our remarkable merchants. We aimed to cultivate a distinct and relaxed ambiance that offers a refreshing change of pace,” said Rodriguez. “Girls Night Out is renowned for being a time when women can let loose and have an unforgettable time, and the Brunch event will provide a more laid-back experience without compromising on the incredible moments you expect.”
Brunch will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 26 and will feature southern style appetizers, mimosas and specialty mock-tails. This portion of the event will be open to all ages, but you must be 18 years or older to attend the evening event.
There will be a bit of a break before the main event begins at 6 p.m. The theme this year is “Mama Mia!” As you enter the Minden Civic Center you will be transported to the island of Skópelos where you will have the opportunity to shop with over 20 vendors, check out the open bar, snack on delicious Greek dishes and dance the night away.
Tickets went on sale June 1, but there are still some available. This year they are only selling a certain amount and they are already halfway to that goal. Ticket purchases will not only guarantee you a memorable night out with the girls but will also contribute to JSL’s mission to better the community of Minden and provide scholarships to local seniors.
Last year the JSL was able to award three scholarships totaling $18,000 to graduating seniors, but they have high hopes of exceeding that number this year.
“This year, we are doubling our goal and aim to make an even greater impact,” said Rodriguez. “Not only are we raising money for scholarships, but we also want this to be a successful weekend for our community. We envision hotels, Airbnbs, restaurants, and shops bustling with activity, as we draw in tourism and support Minden’s businesses.”
If you are traveling to attend the GNO event and looking for a place to stay, Sara McDaniel with the Villas at Spanish Court is currently offering a “staycation” weekend discount code for Thursday, August 24 through Sunday, August 27. Just enter GNO2023 here https://mindenstays.com/
