The Dixie Inn Board of Aldermen unanimously appointed Alan Davis as Chief of Police during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023.
Chief Davis told the board and mayor that he was “committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and dedication in fulfilling my duties as Chief of Police.”
“I would also like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has supported and mentored me throughout my career. Their guidance and encouragement have played an integral role in my professional growth,” Chief Davis said. “It is due to their unwavering belief in my abilities that I find myself in this esteemed position today.”
The new chief said that he “fully recognizes the immense responsibility” that comes with his new position. “I am prepared to lead by example, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency and accountability within the police department.”
Community engagement, trust, and effective communication are three areas that Chief Davis plans to foster to “secure a safe and secure environment for all.”
Alderman Judy McKenzie told the audience that “We are lucky and blessed to have him,” following the unanimous vote.
Chief Davis has been with the Dixie Inn Police Dept. since 2014.
