Knights crush Titans 49-16

North Webster crushed North Caddo 49-16 under the home lights of Baucum-Farrar Stadium to improve to 1-1 heading into next week’s Webster Parish showdown with Minden.

North Webster’s first string defense kept the Titans off the scoreboard for 3 quarters before emptying the bench, while the Knights’ offense rolled up the yardage both on the ground and through the air.

Quarterback Christian Whitlock tossed three touchdowns, with senior Xavier McGlothan on the receiving end of two. The other went to junior J’Kobe Lawson, who added a short rushing touchdown and a punt return touchdown to round out a stellar performance.

Junior running back Braedon Robertson provided the other Knights TD on an electric run from 60 yards out. Whitlock, also the Knights’ kicker, converted all seven of his extra points; McGlothan added an interception for the Knights’ defense, his second of the season.

“He’s a football player,” Coach John Ware said of McGlothan. “He’s done real well since he came over from Calvary Baptist. He complements Jkobe Lawson and Braedon Robertson so those three players take the pressure off our sophomore quarterback, who can just run the offense.”

Ware said defense played really well.

“We gave up two late touchdowns with our second-team defense. The defense was solid all night long and got a lot of pressure on their quarterback,” he added. “I thought we played well overall. I’m happy for our kids.”
