Webster Jr High 8th Grade Team was able to pull off a hard fought victory over Cope Middle School 12-0 on a rainy evening. The game was initially delayed for 20 mins due to lightning strikes close by. The Wolves’ offense got off to a slow start, but the defense controlled the game. Javon Calloway and Nekeya Harden led the team in sacks with 2 each.

JaQuarion Martin, Bennett Speer, Marquan Miller and Lucas Owens Jr. played a big role in shutting down Cope’s run offense. Markell Miller had a  big interception in the 2nd quarter, his second of the year. The offense was led by Jaden Johnson. He completed 5 passes and rush for 60 yards. Abreon Curry was the leading receiver with 3 catches.

Lucas Owens Jr. was the leading rusher and scored both touchdowns for the Wolves. The X-factor for the game was the Wolves’ center Shylin Stanley who didn’t have a single a bad snap in wet conditions. The Wolves are 2-0 on the season and play Benton at home Sept 19.
