Threats to girlfriend land man in jail

A 20-year-old Heflin man is behind bars at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center looking at a variety of charges stemming from a domestic incident that began at an area residence and ended outside a Dixie Inn restaurant.

Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker said Cade Blaine Johnson has been charged with battery of a dating partner with strangulation, aggravated battery with a firearm and false imprisonment after deputies intervened around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Parker said Dep. Derrick Phelps, Dep. Damian Christian and Lt. Coby Barton responded to an alleged domestic incident complaint in a vehicle involving Johnson and a former girlfriend. After making contact and conducting initial interviews, deputies transported the pair to the Sheriff’s office for further questioning.

During interviews, deputies learned Johnson had driven the female from her home to a family member’s residence, then forced her back into his vehicle following an argument. After allegedly forcing the woman to the floorboard by her neck and taking her cell phone, Johnson reportedly drove away despite pleas from the woman to stop.

Deputies were told that during the ride, the suspect grabbed a handgun, pointed it at himself and the woman and threatened to shoot. While being interrogated, Johnson reportedly admitted he pushed the gun into the side of the woman’s head during the argument and made the threats.
