An Arkansas man who allegedly is part of a vehicle burglary ring that spans south Arkansas and all of Webster Parish is now in jail.

Joshua Naaman Berry, 18, of the 500 block of E. Spring St., Taylor, Ark., was arrested by Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies for simple burglary, criminal trespassing and theft.

Sheriff Jason Parker said detectives contacted Springhill Police after learning they had similar vehicle burglaries to ones his department is investigating.

“WPSO detectives investigating several vehicle burglaries received information that led them to a residence in Springhill,” Parker said. “They recovered stolen property and items used in the commission of the burglaries that occurred in north Webster this month.”

In talking to Springhill Police, Parker said detectives Terry Brown and Spencer White learned they had in custody a juvenile suspect charged with possession of a stolen firearm in a vehicle burglary.

Since the two investigations crossed, it is reported that other young adults and juveniles may be involved in the burglaries, however, the sheriff said the burglaries take place in different parts of the parish around 11 p.m. and after each night.

Stolen items that were allegedly used in the commission of the burglaries have been recovered.

Berry was arrested in Doyline around 9 p.m. Tuesday in conjunction with a vehicle burglary that occurred on King Orchard Road.

“Some confiscated property was confirmed stolen on video from the King Orchard burglary,” said the sheriff.

Additional charges are pending for other similar events, and the investigations continue.
